So, you are thinking of applying an automotive window tint to your vehicle? There are a few things you should think about before making your final decision. First, you will need to decide if you prefer to have a metallic or a ceramic film. The ceramic is the premier line of automotive window tint, but it is also more expensive. You may have heard that there are problems with interference with certain types of electronics such as aftermarket satellite radio or an FM modulator (translation – that radio synchronized IPOD docking station in your car), this is true but only for a handful of early model cars with an antenna in the rear glass. If you have a combination of these two situations, you might want to choose one of the ceramic films. If you do not, the metallic versions will perform just as well and will be visually appealing!
Secondly, you will want to select the hue and darkness of the tint. In North Carolina, the legal limit is 35% for sedans and front windows of SUVs and trucks. This number represents the amount, in percentage value, of light that is allowed in through the windows. Any film that contains a number of 35 or higher will be legal and will pose no problems with our local law enforcement or your state inspection. There is an exception to this rule, you are allowed to put a darker film (translation – lower number film) on the rear windows of a larger vehicle, such as an SUV, a truck or a van. This includes the rear window.
Next, you will need to decide whether you are interested in applying a tint to your windshield. We have several new products including the AIR-80, which is virtually clear in color and is legal. This particular film will filter out 99.9% of those harmful UV rays and cut down 43% of the heat coming through the largest window on your vehicle!
Finally, you will need to choose a company to purchase your film and schedule your installation. We most commonly install LLumar film products, which produce high quality films and have been a leader in the industry for many years. Recently we’ve broadened our film selection to include 3M and Johnson Window Films! This now gives our customers more options of film hues and styles. Our films come complete with a lifetime warranty against fading, peeling, cracking or turning various colors (such as purple). So, who should install your quality tint? Tinted Atmospheres – of course! We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on both the film and the installation. Oh, and did we mention, we are competitively priced. We work by appointment and will work with your schedule to arrange a convenient time and day. We often perform work in the evenings and weekends.
